About me
Jody Skiest
Founder & Principal
As an experienced college advisor, I help students tell their stories so colleges can see who they really are. Nowadays, schools look beyond grades and test scores so they can build a class of unique individuals, each adding something distinct to their college community. My job is to help students show their authentic selves.
When my daughter was in high school, the college process took over our lives. Before long I learned the biggest secret of all: there is no magic formula for getting into college. Rather, there is a tipping point between those who distinguish themselves and stand out from the crowd and those who don’t.
So how did I get here? In a prior life I was a lawyer – but it was never who I really was. I’ve always been a creative problem-solver and a strategic thinker. The kind of person people go to for advice. I’d get questions like, “Should I send my child to public school or private?” or “How do I help my son/daughter find a summer internship?”
Looking back, the transition from lawyer to college advisor was seamless because I’m finally doing what I love: helping students find the schools that are right for them. Together we pinpoint their goals and develop a strategy to achieve them. For me, an added bonus is all the families I meet along the way.
